14 years. That’s how long it’s been since the first Incredibles movie! Can you believe it? This totally makes me feel a tad bit old. Wow, I just turned 30 this year AND Incredibles 2 is in theaters. I was 16 when the first Incredibles movie came out! Whatevs tho, I’m forever young. Anyways…Was Incredibles 2 worth the 14-year wait?

Incredibles 2 Movie Review
Incredibles 2 is finally here! It’s been over a decade so those of us that have seen The Incredibles were more than ready for the sequel. Our kids weren’t born when The Incredibles came out so we had to introduce them and of course they fell in love with the Parr Family. If you haven’t seen the first Incredibles movie or your kids haven’t, make sure you watch it before you go see the sequel. Incredibles 2 picks up right where the first movie left off. Even if you have already seen it I think a refresher is a good idea and fun to watch again if you haven’t seen it in a while.
Now for the answer you’ve been waiting for…was Incredibles 2 worth the wait? Absolutely! As adults, the hubs and I loved the sequel and thought it was just as good as the first one. The kids also loved it and they are ready to see it again. So I know purchasing it when it becomes available is a must.
When we first showed the first movie to our youngest daughter (3), she instantly fell in love. Every time she saw the Incredibles anywhere from TV commercials to toys in the store she was super excited. She was extremely hype to see Incredibles 2 when we first saw the preview so she couldn’t wait to see it and she wasn’t disappointed. It kept her attention the entire time and we had to tell her to be quiet several times because she was just so excited! After we left the movies she was still talking about it and she paired each member of the Incredible family with a member of our family. Too cute!
Adorably Funny!
Jack-Jack totally stole the show! Who doesn’t love cute babies? The fact that he’s super adorable and everyone is realizing that he has powers that he doesn’t know how to control because…baby, is too funny! It was so fun to watch him use all of his superhero powers and the family’s reaction to the super powers. I think all of our favorite scenes had Jack-Jack in it. Too cute!
BOSS Mom
Elastigirl is making mommy moves AWAY from the home that is. It’s up to her to save the day now instead of Mr. Incredible. It takes some adjusting on both ends and it’s interesting to watch. She’s such a boss because it’s up to her to help all of the superheroes including her own children. As Mr. Incredible said…she’s gotta do it so their kids can have the choice to use their powers or not.
I always think it’s cool for little girls to have someone to look up to other than a princess. The girls and I liked the fact that Elastigirl was given some shine in the sequel. Mommy was able to be a superhero! Woo hoo for some girl power!
Incredible Dad
Mr. Incredible is an incredible superhero, but seeing him be very involved with the kids was incredible to see. Dads are important too! The kids really got a kick out of Mr. Incredible handling everything at home on his own. Dad can hold down the fort just like mom and mom can handle biz just like dad! I loved it!
Is Incredibles 2 for Kids?
What a silly question right? Well, not really. These days you just don’t know what’s kid-friendly and what’s not even if it’s animated and it seems like it’s for kids. I saw so many posts on Facebook joking about how Incredibles 2 is not for kids, but for all of the adults that were kids when Incredibles first came out. “Incredibles 2 is not for Y’ALL kids it’s for US!” I think that is somewhat true in a way. The creators may have kept that in mind that the kids that saw the first movie are all grown up now so they decided to add a tad bit more adult things in this movie.
First of all, let’s talk about the Bao Pixar short film that played before the movie. I usually like the Pixar short films and don’t get me wrong I liked this one as well, but it wasn’t for the kiddos. It was a cute and heartwarming short film for adults, but can be kind of what in the world is happening right now for kids. I’m not going to spoil the short film, but Google it for more information.
Incredibles 2 is rated PG for the mild language and of course the superhero violence that is seen in the movie. I took my 3-year-old and 7-year-old and I don’t regret taking them to see it. There were a few scary parts which I think is expected due to the villain in superhero movies. What caught me by surprise though was the “I’ll be damned”, “promote the hell outta them”, and the “what the fu-(which the F-bomb wasn’t completed)” lines. I don’t think the use of cuss words were necessary, but they are there. Get a more in-depth parent guide about the Incredibles 2 HERE which I also saw being shared on Facebook.
Epilepsy Warning
Please note that some scenes in this movie may not be ok to see for those that have epilepsy. I’m no doctor, but I always notice things like this due to the fact of my dad’s history with seizures. So make sure you do your research on that if you or someone you’re taking to see this movie has epilepsy.
