That was my favorite Bible verse to recite growing up. Did you know that’s how you got your name? That verse spoke to me when you were in my belly and helped me get through such a tough time. It helped me have hope even though I was told I shouldn’t. I knew then that your name had to have JOY in it so I named you JOIA. Can you believe a doctor said he was 99.9% sure you were not going to be here? Yet, here you are! I love you so much my JOI and I’m glad God chose your daddy and me to be your parents.

Who would have thought that in the year 2020, a few years after your birth, we would be experiencing a pandemic? I never would’ve guessed it! These are some crazy times we are in. I worry on the daily about you and your siblings and all of our family. I pray that it doesn’t touch any of us and we all remain safe and you pray with me.
At first, it was kind of hard for you to grasp why you couldn’t play with your friends, go to fun places, go into stores, or even see family. You explained to me that the virus made you sad. It makes me sad too sweetheart. I hope it’s all over soon.
You’re still smart as ever and you’re a true dancing machine now. You’re not too shy anymore and you are good at making friends. You even have a little crush! You have dreams about him pushing you on the swing and giving you hugs. You say he’s your boyfriend. Puppy love. I remember those days of having little crushes. You are just too cute.

You couldn’t wait to turn five and go to Kindergarten! You’ll be in school before we both know it. I know you’ll shine bright! We’ve been doing a lot of homeschooling these days since we are all stuck at home. You’ve been doing very well. You’re Kindergarten ready!
You’re finally a big sister and an amazing big sister at that! I love to see you care for your brother and show him so much love. I bet you guys will be so close even though you’re five years apart.

We surprised you big time for your birthday! You knew we were up to something though. You said we were all being SUSPICIOUS! How do you even know that word? You always amaze me with your proper talking and vocabulary, but hey, the apple doesn’t fall too far from the tree!
We had so many unicorn decorations that we just had to do it big and give you a quarantine photoshoot! You rocked that photoshoot, my beautiful girl! Daddy gave you photos to help you remember a big milestone in your life! You’re FIVE! Happy birthday my Tinky! We love you!
