If your birthday is coming up like mine, I bet you’re looking for at home birthday celebration ideas since you have to stay inside. This is a very different time for sure and it might even have you a little upset that your original birthday plans are canceled. Instead of going out to eat, out of town, or out of the country, you’re getting your best outfit ready to go and party in your living room instead, right? That’s perfectly ok! We are still going to celebrate our birthdays! Being stuck inside is not gonna stop that!

If you’re struggling with just what to do to celebrate your birthday and still make it special, I have a few birthday celebration ideas for you mom and dads! If you’re looking for birthday celebration ideas for kids then click HERE.
Do Nothing
Yes, you read that right. For starters, how about just doing absolutely nothing? Let everyone else in the house cater to you! Let your significant other or kids handle everything for the day from breakfast to dinner to any fun activities that you would like to do as a family.
Doing nothing also includes not working on your birthday if you can help it. I always say that my birthday is a holiday. There’s no way any job is going to ruin MY day with some unexpected shenanigans. It’s MY day and I’m going to do what I WANT. We all just need a break sometimes and need to relax so take the day off!
Adult Game Night
Have an adult game night. Play Uno, Cards Against Humanity, 5 Second Rule, Taboo, or any of the games that adults actually want to play. If you want other friends and family to join in on the game night fun, download the Houseparty app and play games like Heads Up, Trivia, Quick Draw, and Chips and Guac with several people while video chatting. It’s really fun!
At Home Date Night
Date nights at home can be a lot of fun too! Wanted to do wine and paint for your birthday? Who says you can’t do that at home? Get creative and I promise you that you’ll enjoy yourself. Dress Up
Get dolled up or fresh for your birthday! That birthday outfit that you ordered…put it on! It doesn’t matter that you aren’t going out of the house! Feel good and look good on your birthday. Still dress up and capture the moment with some video or photos too! You can even have a little mini birthday photoshoot.
Bake Yourself a Cake
Got a sweet tooth? Treat yourself! Bake yourself something sweet and simple like a box cake or cupcakes. I’m no baker, but I’ll whip up some Pilsbury Funfetti cupcakes real quick. You can even try baking a wacky cake that doesn’t require butter, milk, or eggs! If you’d rather not bake you can just order a cake and have it delivered! Virtual Birthday Party
Since you’re all dressed up, why don’t you throw yourself a virtual party or have someone host it for you! Use Zoom or Google Hangouts, make a playlist and turn the music up. Have fun with your friends and family virtually. You may have never had a virtual party before so this will be something different right? Have fun!
Spa Day
Have a DIY spa day or include this in your “do nothing” list and have your significant other or child give you a spa day. Put on a comfy robe, get a massage, get your feet rubbed, get your nails done, refresh your face with a face mask and just relax.
Cook Your Favorite Meal
You were planning on going out to eat for your birthday huh? How about you bring your favorite restaurant meal to you with a restaurant copycat recipe? Pinterest has tons of copycat recipes. Here are a few copy cat recipes you can try at home:
Olive Garden Pasta E Fagioli Soup
Have a Picnic
Throws some food on the grill and have a picnic outside! Get some fresh air, eat some good food, and enjoy your family.
Karaoke
Sing your heart out and I don’t mean join in on singing the happy birthday song! Have some fun and do some karaoke! If you have a karaoke machine or karaoke mic, that’s cool, but you don’t have to have one to sing with the fam. You can throw on YouTube and pull up a lyric video and sing along. Twitch released a FREE karaoke game called Twitch Sings that you can play with or without streaming that you can download HERE. You can also play some singing video games like Let’s Sing 2020 (coming out later this month) on the Nintendo Switch. And if you don’t like to sing, well you can just dance.
