J. Cole’s first Dreamville Festival was a dream come true! It’s been years in the making by the Dreamville team. All of the J. Cole fans were super hype when they first heard the news that a Dreamville music festival was coming to Raleigh North Carolina. The Dreamville Festival was supposed to happen in September 2018, but Hurricane Florence had other plans for the city.
Due to Hurricane Florence, fans didn’t know when to expect the Dreamville Fest to make its official first appearance in North Carolina, but we didn’t have too long to wait. The first ever Dreamville Fest went down on April 6, 2018, in Dorothea Dix Park in Raleigh North Carolina and I was there! Come along with me.
Dreamville Festival Experience
Welcome to Dreamville! The hubs and I were so ready to go to the Dreamville Festival. I bought our tickets during the presale so we were ready ready! Good thing I did because the Dreamville Fest was SOLD OUT! 40,000 people were there. HELLO ANXIETY! I’m not big on being in a crowd of people, but aye…COLE WORLD! I couldn’t miss it and I’m so glad I went.

I missed J. Cole’s Forest Hills Drive show in Fayetteville so there was no way I was missing this! This was definitely a good way to kick off my birthday month. Thanks, J. Cole! He basically brought a mini Coachella to our area. That’s so dope, right? From the minute we walked through the gate, there was nothing but dopeness. There was awesome artwork everywhere and the vibe was just amazing. Dreamville did that!
Dreamville Fest Winner!
I won some tickets to the Dreamville Festival y’all! Yes, I had already purchased some, but I was trying to see if I could win a VIP upgrade or something. Unfortunately, the tickets were still general admission, BUT I also won a hotel stay in addition to the Dreamville Festival tickets! Perfect birthday gift! Shoutout to WCCG 104.5 FM for the tickets and hotel stay.

My favorite performances besides J. Cole was Big Sean, Bas, Teyana Taylor, Nelly, Meek Mill, and Sza. Meek Mill was a surprise guest that J. Cole brought out and the crowd went wild! I actually missed a few performances because I didn’t get there as early as I wanted to and going back and forth between two stages. Nipsey Hussle Tributes
A lot of artists paid tribute to Nipsey Hussle which was super dope. It was really touching and heartfelt. During Big Sean’s Nipsey Hussle tribute, he had the whole crowd to give a moment of silence and everyone was quiet. I mean EVERYONE! Did I mention there were over 40,000 people out there? RESPECT!
Nipsey you a legend. I respect and admire your career path and what you did for the neighborhood. My heart broke today when I saw the news. I’m praying for your loved ones. This was sposed to be the year we got one in. God had bigger plans for you 🙏🏿
