Have you ever read a romance book that was centered around a dog? I haven’t so I was excited to receive a free copy of The Dog Park by Laura Caldwell in exchange for a fair and honest review. I couldn’t wait to get my paws…er I mean hands on it! I got my hands on it a couple of weeks ago and the cover is absolutely adorable. It shows a man and woman at the dog park sitting on the bench with their super cute goldendoodle. I couldn’t wait to dive in and see if I would like the book or not.
About The Dog Park by Laura Caldwell
The Dog Park is all about a divorced couple that got a dog when they were once married. Since the divorce, the couple has been sharing the dog sort of like joint custody of a child. The dog spends time with one dog parent and then spends time with the other dog parent, travelling back and forth between households. Baxter originally came into their lives as a way to keep them together, but the marriage still didn’t work and they both try to move on with their lives.

My Thoughts on The Dog Park
The book is a quick and easy read. I didn’t find myself bored with the story at all. It was actually quite interesting and entertaining. I consider myself a pet parent so I could relate to almost everything in the book when it came to the dog Baxter. I found myself comparing Simba to Baxter numerous times. Baxter is just so cute and lovable! Baxter alone will definitely make you want to keep reading the story. The couple in the book are definitely true pet parents and they will make you say “awww’ more than a few times while you’re reading. I think it’s awesome how much they both love Baxter and how they shared Baxter even though they weren’t together anymore. The storyline is pretty unique. I’ve never actually seen anyone have joint custody of a dog, but I don’t think it’s such a bad idea, especially if you love your dog the way they did and the way that I love Simba! The book is a romance book so it has some sexy moments in there. The book also has some humor in it and of course some sadness. I almost shed a few tears one time! The book definitely has some twist and turns that I wasn’t expecting, but I won’t spoil it for you! You’re just going to have to pick up a copy and read it for yourself 😉 The book really shows you how much dogs mean to people and how they become apart of the family. All in all, I’d say this book was a really good book. I would recommend it to you if you love romance and if you have a love for dogs.

I could see having joint custody of the dogs 🙂 I know my husband loves the dogs just as much as I do and would miss them dearly if he couldn’t see them (same goes for the dogs :).

Well, it isn’t going to happen, but we would. A dog is a child of the family.

Looks like a cute book. And, of course, I’m a doglover, so I’m biased about such books!

Mmm… I dont think I would like to have joint custody, but she loves her daddy a lot, so it could be an option if that were the case. Looking forward to read the book! 🙂
