I was asked to participate in the awesome Sizzling Winter Blog Hop & Treasure Hunt! You can win a $10 Pet Smart e-Gift Certificate from Come Wag Along and hop to other blogs for a chance to win a lot of other prizes. First, you will read a book review on “Everything You Need to Know About House Training Puppies and Adult Dogs” and then I will explain what you need to do to win some great prizes!

I was excited to receive a copy of “Everything You Need to Know About House Training Puppies and Adult Dogs” in exchange for a fair and honest review. Not only that, but it’s all part of a fun giveaway event called the Sizzling Winter Blog Hop & Treasure Hunt!

Housebreaking a puppy or older dog. Potty training puppy. Dog training.

“Everything You Need to Know About House Training Puppies and Adult Dogs” was a helpful book. It feels as if Lori is talking directly to you. If you are thinking about getting your first dog or you just brought your first dog home, then this is a must read. It is even a good read for those that already have had a dog for a while and are still trying to teach them or teach them all over again for whatever reason. This book really teaches you how a dog thinks and helps you to understand a dog. It is a very easy read and has step by step instructions as well as checklist of supplies, feeding chart, sample schedules, and a housebreaking chart. The book is broken into two parts: How to Teach Your Dog and Preventing and Solving Problems. The first part goes into the entire process of how to house train your dog where as the second part gives different problems that people have with their dogs and how to solve them. By the time that I received this book, Simba was already house trained, but I still learned things that were helpful to me such as food tips, visiting others with your pet, and how to correct a dog. Did you know that you must correct a dog at the time of an act that you didn’t want him to do otherwise he has no idea what you’re talking about!? I didn’t know that, but now I know thanks to Lori! The book pretty much focuses on crate training and taking your dog outside to do his business. Simba was crate trained, but he was also trained to ring the bell on the door that opens to our balcony where his training pad is to do his business. In this book, Lori pretty much tells you that you don’t need training pads, newspaper, or a litter box. I don’t see anything wrong with training pads and Simba is house trained just fine. That’s the only thing that I didn’t really like about the book, but you can still apply all of these steps and tips to your dog if you crate train him and want him to use training pads or whatever you choose. After all, it’s your choice and whatever works for you, works for you. All in all I enjoyed reading the book and it is very helpful. You should check it out if you’re having trouble house training your dog or you are new to house training your dog completely.

I probably wouldn’t buy it, but would take a quick look at it. I have 3 dogs, all trained…..either that or I’m the one who’s trained! LOL. They are all rescue dogs, so each one has different problems and training had to be approached differently. Right now, the last one to arrive is having severe separation anxiety! Thanks for the chance to win-I could use it lol!

I would read this book. I have a puppymill survivor Pug and some tips might help her, and my 55 lb. mix is having trouble jumping when she is excited to see someone. You never know what information is in there you didn’t know before or tried.

This is something I would be interested in buying. My little 1 year old shihtzu sometime tinkles on blankets. I know she doesn’t mean to. I just wish I could train her differently.

Hi All: Glad you’ve enjoyed Come Wag Along’s review of my book! I’m excited to see that so many of you have rescued… there are special sections for rescued dogs, and also for teaching already housebroken dogs to use a designated area in your yard. Hope you enjoy it if you decide to read it! –Lori

It looks like a good book, but my dogs are beyond puppy hood. It would have been a great purchase a few years ago.

I think my knowledge on dog training is one of my weak points so I’m sure I could learn a thing or two from the book.

I probably won’t read this since I don’t need to train a dog.
