Happy dog mom day to me! It has been one year since I brought Simba the Mini Schnauzer home with me (woo, that was fast!) and I became a dog mom for the very first time! You can read the story of what happened the day I got him here.
Simba = AWESOME
Simba is still an awesome dog. He was awesome the first time I laid eyes on him and he just continues to show me his awesomeness! He’s such a loving dog and I couldn’t ask for a better one. I love watching him grow up especially with the little one. Simba gets along well with other people and dogs. He loves making new friends and I’m glad that he’s so sociable and not afraid to be around anyone.

Ruh-Roh!
Simba’s a good dog and doesn’t get into a lot of doggie mischief exceeeept for a time or two when he was home alone and I won’t name any names *cough* my boyfriend *cough* forgot to put him in his kennel (which he is only really in if we’re at work or running an errand and he can’t tag along). He had a field day in our apartment I tell ya. Twice he was left home alone out of his kennel by mistake and he made sure he did just a little damage to remind his daddy not to leave him out of his kennel while we’re away. He ripped toilet tissue to smithereens! He dragged the little one’s toys all throughout the house as if they were his! When I first walked in the door I thought someone else came in and just threw some things around, but oh no, it was my Simby (nickname lol) You can read that entire story here. So he’s only a little troublemaker when we aren’t around because he knows better than to do that exceeeept there was this one time when he totally ruined my favorite cheetah print heels and I was just in the other room. I definitely learned to keep my closet door closed so he can’t gnaw on any of my beloved shoes after that happened! As far as potty training…Simba pretty much has that down packed exceeeept for those little accidents he has once in a blue moon at a friend or neighbors house and sometimes our own, but for the most part he rings the bell to let me know when he has to take care of business. So yeah, Simba’s pretty much perfect right? 😉

Some Things I’ve Learned from My Dog
I’ve definitely learned some things from Simba like how to be more patient because I definitely didn’t have much patience before I got him. Having a dog requires patience when you have to teach him things and whatnot of course. There is a lot of repeating involved…a looooooot of repeating and I so hate to repeat myself, but I’ll do it for my Simby! As you can see I’ve given him a nickname, well a couple actually. Simby, Sim, and his dad sometimes calls him Simbino! He’s our furkid and we love him to pieces!

Happiest Dog Ever
Simba is the happiest dog ever! It is like he’s always cheesing and showing those pearly whites of his that keeps a smile on my face and anyone else that he is around. It’s so refreshing to come home everyday to a loving dog. I wouldn’t trade him for anything in the world and I hope he has a long life ahead of him to share with me! The Mini Schnauzer is a great dog so if you’re thinking about getting a dog you might want to check out the Mini Schnauzer breed and maybe just maybe you’ll get to have a dog as awesome as mine 😉
Simba is right next to me as I write this post and he usually is for every post that I write for this blog. He always wants to be my side! He’s so adorable. Love my Simby.

How many years has your furkid been with you? Has your pet taught you anything? Does your pet have nicknames? Do tell! We wanna know!
Aw, we love Simba too! Max and I celebrated our 1st year together in February and I couldn’t be happier that he picked me!! Sounds like you totally feel the same! Happy Dog Day to you both!!!

Happy Gotcha Day Simba & Mom!
Congratulations on your one year! Mom has had a cat or dog since she was 7 and has had at least one dog for almost 20 years. She can’t imagine life without a pet, they bring so much joy into life. Each pet is different and has a special place in her heart.

Thanks Emma! I’ve had two dogs when I was younger, but this is my first dog on my own 🙂 I can’t imagine life without a pet either!
Happy Anniversary to you guys! The mess reminds me of our puppy Shetland Sheepdog when I was a kid. She liked to cause mischief like that while we were out.

What a sweet post! Happy Gotcha Day, Simba. I have taught Mom that the house does not need to be perfect. A little mess is healthy. I help her by making a mess – every single day.

I’m celebrating my dog mom this weekend. The Friday that starts off Memorial Day Weekend happens to be the day we brought home each of our dogs – in 2010 and 2012.
