What’s a better Mother’s Day gift than spending time with the kid or kids that made you a mother? A mommy & me day is a perfect way to spend Mother’s Day. Our oldest kiddo really loves to have a “girls day” and she loves to plan things out to do. She loves to have a day or a couple of hours out of the day where it’s just the girls. Kids love mommy and me activities and it makes them feel special as they should since he or she will get all of your attention.

Mommy and Me Activities
Instead of giving you mother’s day gift ideas I am going to give you different ways you can spend Mother’s Day with your son or daughter by doing some fun mommy and me activities. Memories will be cherished much more than a gift and it’s something you can always look back on. Make sure you capture those moments with a photo or a video!
Have a Photo Shoot
Capture your Mother’s Day moments with a mommy and me photoshoot that you can always cherish. Get dolled up and have some fun! Do each other’s nails if you or coordinate with a bowtie. Use Pinterest as inspiration for some mommy and me poses.
Read Mommy and Me Books
Get cozy and read mommy and me books together. There are some really sweet books about moms for kids out there. Our favorite right now is My Mommy Medicine by Edwidge Danticat. It’s such a sweet book that I’m sure will be read again and again. You can also do some journaling with your child as a way to connect with each other more.
Go Shopping
Go to the mall and buy mommy and me matching outfits to wear one day or wear it that day. I think mommy and me clothes are too cute! Grab a bite to eat and then stop by the ice cream or yogurt shop and treat yourself to some goodies. See who can make the best ice cream creation.
Go Fishing
Going fishing is a great way to bond with your son or daughter. You’re outside enjoying nature and it feels great when you finally catch a fish! Have a competition and see who can catch the most fish. Enjoy the great outdoors and the view. Watch the sunset. Skip rocks on the water. Enjoy the fresh air.
Cook Together
Plan a meal together and let your child help you prepare it. You can have a Mother’s Day breakfast, lunch, or dinner or you can simply bake some cookies or some other fun dessert. You can also find a mommy and me cooking class in your area. If you’d rather not cook on your special day then go out to eat at your favorite spot and make it a mommy and me date!
Movie Marathon Day
Don’t feel like going anywhere? Grab the popcorn and have a movie marathon day! Get all of you and your child’s favorite movies ever and watch them back to back to back. You can even share some of your favorite childhood movies like The Lion King!
Go to the Park
Kids ALWAYS love to go to the park. Plan some activities that you guys can do together so you enjoy yourself as well. Ride your bikes together. Have a water gun/water ballon fight. Have a picnic. Play kickball. Play catch. Shoot some hoops. Go at night and star gaze. Visit a water park and go swimming or go to a splash park and cool off!
Go Skating
This will be tons of fun! If you’ve never been ice skating before then give that a go! Or simply do some roller skating at the skating rink. If your child has never been skating this will be a fun experience and one that your child will never forget.
Let Your Child Decide
Let your child do whatever their little heart desires. You can let them know that you’d love the gift of their time and you’d like to do some fun and special things on your day. You may be surprised at just what your son or daughter comes up with.
