Who knew that creating a baby registry could be sooo overwhelming!? Where the heck do you even start and what should most definitely be in your list? I talked to family and friends about what the most important things to add were and I also looked at checklists via Pinterest because Pinterest has all kinds of ideas right? Those two things really helped me get a start on what items to add, but I wasn’t too sure where I wanted to register at. Hmm, how about ANYWHERE that I wanted? Yes, that’s right ANYWHERE and have it all on one list. Genius right? With BabyList registry I am able to do just that and I’m even able to make multiple BabyList’s too! I have made one for family/friends and then I made another specifically for this blog & our Meet The Chambers vlog friends. Let me talk to you a bit about BabyList if you have never heard of it before because I know my friends and family hadn’t.
What is BabyList?
BabyList is a super cool and easy way to add things to a baby registry from anywhere online. Like things on Etsy? No problem, you can add it to your registry. Like a store, but it’s not in your area and it is only available online? You can add it to your registry with ease. I think it’s pretty cool that all of the places you love can be on one list. Also you can link to other registries if you have already made a registry to Babies R Us for example and you’re just now finding out about BabyList.
What I like about BabyList
I love the fact that I can add anything from any store! That sold me right off the bat. I also like that I can quickly access my BabyList with the app on my phone. It’s very easy to use! I didn’t have any problems adding items or figuring out how to do so. All I had to do is get the BabyList button and then whenever I’m on a site and I see something I like I can just click the button and add it to my registry. I also like the fact that I put items in specific categories and be all organized and whatnot. This makes it easy for someone that is looking at my baby registry. You can also add meaningful gifts that you can’t buy in stores like someone cooking a meal for you! You can add dog sitting, walking the dog, babysitting, and you can even add gently used baby clothes that your friend or family might have that they can pass down to your baby. You can basically add anything you’d like! You also have the option to see how many items are reserved and who reserved what. I haven’t used the option to see who reserved what because I’ll let that be a surprise, but I can see that people are actually using the registry by seeing things are being reserved. BabyList will send you 100 free registry insert cards for the low and when I say for the low I mean FREE! I thought that was pretty cool and I definitely used them. I like the fact that BabyList has a catalog of things for me to choose from to add to my baby registry which definitely helped with what I should add. They also have inspiration registries for even more ideas. BabyList sends you an email if the price of an item on your list has changed. You can also send a message or talk to someone on the phone from the BabyList team if you’re having issues or need any help.
What I dislike about BabyList
A lot of people seem to be so confused on actually how to use it to buy a gift! Some people were trying to look up our names in a registry at a store we had listed even though we said you wouldn’t be able to find us in the store’s registry. So be prepared to explain how to use the registry a million times if you didn’t make note of how to use the registry when you sent out the invites and registry cards. If I had knew it would have been such a big deal I would’ve definitely told my mom to include how to use the registry in the invitation LOL. I also would’ve made a note on how to use the registry on the registry itself in the section where you can leave a note for those that are viewing your registry. I went back and added a note to the family/friend registry since I’m having another baby shower where I live and I also added a note for the registry below explaining just how to use it. That’s basically the only thing that I dislike about BabyList. I think their FAQ’s make it pretty clear on how to use the registry, but most people just don’t go and read it of course.
Add Items for Your Pet to your Baby Registry!
Wouldn’t it be cool to include your pet in your baby registry? Some of the stores you can create registries at may not have pet related “big bro/big sis/little bro/little sis” dog items for you to choose from, but sites you visit frequently for your pet does right? Well, with BabyList you can add those things for your pet because you can add items from ANY store! Yes, we have added things for Simba to the baby registry as well as he is a part of the family too! I found some adorable big bro dog clothes for Simba on Etsy and Ebay that I included in the list!
My Baby Registry
You can view my baby registry HERE. I couldn’t resist putting cute clothes on my registry even though people said you shouldn’t put clothes and put the more important things that you need. Oh well, I couldn’t resist. Hey, she’s my first child. You may not see a lot of things that you think are important to have on this registry because I already have it on the one for family/friends and didn’t want to repeat the same things. Anywho, feel free to send baby girl a gift, a gift card, or just a card with your kind words. We will appreciate it! Our PO Box is listed on the registry. Thanks for all of your love and support and for those that are just as excited as we are about our bundle of joy arriving in May! We really appreciate it!
What baby registry have you used or what registry are you using? Do you like it? What do you think about BabyList? Would you add items for your pet?
Thanks for the heads up on the fact that your friends and family can’t use the in store registry even though it seems like you are registered there. That would be quite confusing especially if you don’t have have the app on your phone to check it once you are in the store. Love that it has added things like a place to say that you want to build a library and used books are fine and that you might be in need of a meal or two after the baby comes. I wonder if they could make it so that when you register for items it is actually registering at the store so that people can go in. I am sure that would make it easier for grandparents and great grandparents and their friends to figure out.

No problem! Yeah, that’s the main thing I disliked. It really made it confusing for people. That would be great if they actually put you registered at the store so people can view it there. Some people actually tried to view it at the store and was confused as to why we weren’t showing up. Hopefully they can add that feature in the future.
VERY cool! It allows so much flexibility.

This sounds like a great app! I love that you included things for Simba. I guess it could use it for anything really…like if you know you are going to be adopting a dog soon. (Is there an option to change it from Baby List to another title?)

What a cool service! I love that you can add things from anywhere online. So many cool things aren’t available in stores! I wonder if there is a version of this that could be used by animal rescues. That would be cool for them just to have an online list like this for all of the food and supplies they need so donors could just click and purchase it for them.

That does sound like a great app and that you cannot find some items in stores. Love great finds like that.

Wish I had known about this when we were expecting! I’m still in the process of finishing up purchasing things on our registries, but I think having one list would have made things easier in the long run. Especially with some items that I had put notes on, but the person who bought the gift never saw the notes!
