I LOVE Instagram don’t you? I enjoy posting photos of Simba and interacting with those that have so much love for him. Would you like to know how to possibly get more interaction with people and more likes? Use #HASHTAGS! You do use hashtags you say? Do you just make up hashtags or do you use popular ones? Wait, there are popular hashtags? Why yes there are! Using some popular hashtags on Instagram may get your photos noticed by people that have the same interests as you and they may even follow you. Hashtags can be very useful if you use them correctly
#Hashtag Newbies
You don’t use hashtags at all? Are you even wondering what a hashtag is and exactly how you use it? It’s easy, don’t worry. Let me give you a little quick rundown. A hashtag is simply a way to categorize pictures on Instagram. This makes it easier for other users to interact with each other and search for pictures and whatnot. For example, if you put a picture on Instagram of your dog taking a bath you could tag it with #dogbath and #bathtime like so: My dog hates baths #dogbath #bathtime
After your photo is posted you can then click on the hashtags and you will see tons of pictures that other users have posted using the same hashtag. If you used a hashtag like #MyDogHatesBathsEw and you click on it…there may be NO photos associated with this hashtag because it’s not a popular hashtag. Unpopular hashtags can come in handy though! I use the hashtag #ComeWagAlong which only has pictures that I post because no one else uses it. To find out if a hashtag you think of is being used or not, simply do a search on that hashtag first before using it and see if any photos come up. This way you can get your followers involved with you by telling them to use a certain hashtag like my hashtag #SimbaFashionFriday for example. You can also get involved with the Instagram community by using hashtags like #ThrowbackThursday where users post an old picture every Thursday. For example, you may post a picture of your dog when he was a puppy and use the hashtag #ThrowbackThursday. See, easy peasy!

Popular Instagram Hashtags
I’ve been using the app TagsForLikes which makes it super easy to get popular hashtags for the kind of photo you are posting to Instagram. The app is for iPhone and Android phones. You can also use the website – tagsforlikes.com and copy and paste the tags from your browser. It’s really simple to use!
Simply download the app to your phone and open it up.
Select the category you want….like Animals
Select dogs for example out of the animals category
Click the copy tags button
Open Instagram, select your photo, select filter, type your caption, paste the tags in the caption section, and share! That’s it, you’re done.
You can also paste the tags into a comment instead of the caption of the picture you just shared or you can paste the tags in a comment of an old photo you shared. You can paste the tags in the caption or the comments section or both! See below:
I use a combination of my own hashtags and popular hashtags from various categories. For instance, since Simba is a Mini Schnauzer I definitely want other Mini Schnauzer lovers to see him that may not be following him at the time. You can take note of all of your favorite Instagram tags and combine those tags with some popular tags and create your own combo of tags to use on plenty of your photos. Tagstagram actually has a custom feature you can use to do just that so you can copy and paste those tags or change them around and save them for future use. It’s really helpful and you don’t have to try and remember all of your favorite and popular Instagram hashtags!
Webstagram also gives you a list of the top 100 Instagram tags. Click here to view them along with other popular Instagram things like the top 100 Instagram users.
I hope you find this somewhat helpful and start using popular Instagram hashtags more to increase your followers, likes, and interaction. Let me know how it goes! Follow Simba’s Instagram account @RawrSimba. We’d love to hear from you! We also try to follow back all pet Instagram accounts. If you have a personal Instagram account you can follow me at @KiaFocused and I’ll follow your personal account there. Have fun instagrammin!
How do you come up with the Instagram tags you use? Do you have any popular Instagram tags that you use on a regular basis? Any other Instagram hashtag tips? Share!
The problem is typing all those hashtags every time. Mom doesn’t want to have to type so much on her phone, but we need to work on more hashtags.

That’s the joy of the app Tagstagram that I’m talking about. All you have to do is click the “copy tags” button and paste away onto your Instagram photo 😉
Somehow I missed that part about that app. I will have to see if I can get it on my phone. Thanks

You’re welcome!
I love Instagram but I could do a better job of using popular hash tags. I have my own hashtags that I use on every photo: #garth #garthriley #twagr and #dailydoseofgarth but I haven’t been using many popular ones and I didn’t know about the apps you mentioned. This is very helpful! Thanks!

Great! Glad I could help 🙂
I just started using Instagram about 6 months ago. I look on photos I like to see what the tags are and, if they apply to my photo, use them on mine. It’s not a targeted method but it’s good for a beginner like me.
