This week PetSmart announced some huge news about a new program in celebration of their 30th anniversary. The new “Buy a Bag, Give a Meal™” program will help a lot of pets. For every bag of dog or cat food purchased, PetSmart will donate a meal to pets in need. Food purchases can be made in PetSmart stores across the U.S., Canada and Puerto Rico or online. My dog Simba has such a huge appetite to be such a small dog. He loves to eat! I’m glad that I’m able to provide Simba with food that he loves on a daily basis. Every dog isn’t as blessed as him though unfortunately. Up to 7 million pets enter shelters every year in North America. A lot of pets actually struggle to be fed and it’s not just those that are in animal shelters. Did you know that some families struggle feeding their pets? Only about 20 percent of animal welfare organizations receive pet food donations. Wouldn’t you like to help them? You can quite easily with PetSmart’s new program.
The donated food will not just go to pet shelters and rescues, but also to food banks as well. This is awesome news because pet food is actually pretty rare in food bank programs. Because it’s so rare families in need will feed their pets their human food to make sure that their pet has food to eat. The Buy a Bag, Give a Meal™ program is going to help these families make sure their pets are fed. PetSmart, with its nonprofit partner, PetSmart Charities, has been a leader in adoption, saving more than 7.3 million pets’ lives! PetSmart Charities is the leading funder of animal welfare in North America and has donated about $300 million to date to help pets in need.

Simply buy your pet’s food as you normally would and a pet in need will be sure to get a meal. Yes, it’s that simple. Every single time you purchase your pet’s food from PetSmart this year you will be helping a pet in need. It doesn’t matter what brand or size of dog or cat food you buy either. Anything goes when it comes to the food you choose to buy for your pet in order to help! Buy any bag of cat food or dog food you’d like from PetSmart and you help a pet in need. It’s that simple!
We love PetSmart and shop there on a regular basis. I am thrilled that PetSmart has such a great idea to help pets and I am able to help in the process! Simba knows when it’s time to eat and he gets extremely excited when it’s breakfast or dinnertime. I hope to give many more pets that same feeling every time I pick up a bag of dog food for Simba from PetSmart.
