Happy 5th Birthday Simba! - Come Wag Along

Simba is the big FIVE today! I can’t believe he is five already. I remember it like it was yesterday when I first saw his cute little face. The fam bam and I are glad that we get to spend another year with Simba in our lives. Simba is truly a blessing and I’m glad that he is a part of our little family. The hubs and I love the fact that my girls get to grow up with a dog. We just love everything about our dog and are extremely thankful for him. Celebrating our dog’s birthday is definitely a must! We wouldn’t dare let the day go by without acknowledging having our dog in our lives for another year.

A dog getting older is awesome and everything, but I can’t help but to think about the fact that our time is winding down with him. I wish that dogs lived as long as humans did. I know that isn’t possible though so I cherish every moment I have with my dog. He truly is one of my best friends and I will be extremely hurt when it’s his time to leave us. I don’t dwell on the fact that he probably only has around ten or so more years with us, but I do think about it from time to time. What really makes me think about it is that my kids will have to go through losing their first dog. I’m not looking forward to that at all. The quote below sums up my feelings quite well.

But enough of all of that sadness. Today is a great day and it’s a day to celebrate! It’s my dog’s birthday! My dog is FIVE years old and I’m amazed and happy about it. I still can’t believe that Simba has been a part of our family for so long. He is now 36 years old in human years. I wish him many more years with us! We will continue to cherish every moment we have with him <3

Celebrating My Dog’s Birthday

For Simba’s birthday this year I decided to get him a new comfy dog bed. The dog bed is so comfy to the touch that I just knew he’d love it when I saw it in the store. One of my go to stores for pet products is Ross. Ross has quality dog products for a low price. Simba is absolutely in love with his new dog bed. You know that he is in love with it when he decided to spend most of the night in his own dog bed and not in mine! I decided to get him some new dog bowls from there as well that will look great in his corner of our kitchen.

Simba also received a baked birthday dog treat that I picked up from PetSmart along with a new bandanna dog collar. Oh yeah and how can I forget his new dog toy!? This is the first time we have seen Cesar Milan toys so we were curious about it. The hubs decided Simba could try out the new dog toy for his birthday. It seems pretty durable, but Simba has never been bad about his dog toys.

Unfortunately nobody will be home with Simba for the majority of his birthday, but the sun will still be out when we get home. Yay for Spring arriving just in time for the birthday boy! We will have a few hours of sun when we return home from work today. Since the sun will still be out I plan to have some fun with Simba outside and maybe even taking him out somewhere for a birthday dog treat!
