Fashion Friday: Nickel – THE Hipster Dog

Happy Fashion Friday!  Today we are featuring our furiend Nickel, THE hipster dog!

About two years ago I used to be on Tumblr A LOT!  While I was tumblin’, I came across this picture of an absolutely adorable white dog which happens to be Nickel!  At the time I didn’t know his name or anything about him except for the fact that he was one of the cutest dogs  I ever did see and I just had to have a dog like him!  I even saved the picture to my cell phone at that time. Yes, it was THAT serious!

I had always wanted a small dog ever since I was a kid, but seeing Nickel’s picture put it back on my radar with a quickness and within a year Simba was living with me!  Simba isn’t a Maltese like Nickel, but he’s an awesome Miniature Schnauzer that I love dearly!  So in a way, Nickel is the reason that I went on my search for a lovable dog.  Thanks Nickel!

Now, let’s get to know Nickel.  His human gave us all the deets on him and he is one interesting dog!

He is a 9 year old Maltese.  His birthday is on May 17th.  He loves his glasses and pairs it with a scarf most of the time and he occasionally wears hoodies on cold days.  Nickel’s favorite spot to shop is Goodwill and he also loves to support his pal Jon Wye’s “Fred Fred” Dog collars, named after his beloved Fred.  Nickel’s mom really has no idea how Nickel became the “hipster dog”.  It started out with his humans (Kat and Paul) creating him a Tumblr account to share Nickel’s random antics, and it just went off within weeks, and Nickel became THE hipster dog.  Pretty cool!

Nickel does not act like an ordinary dog. Listening to the Beatles calms him down. He hates the water, doesn’t play with dog toys, and really knows how to wear glasses. Those hipster glasses are his, by the way (they’re non-prescription). He likes having his photo taken and sits still for the camera. He is very well traveled – recently, he was on the road around North America (up to Alaska! East to NY! Down to Key West, FL!), living in a red and white VW bus.  Nickel will travel anywhere as long as he’s with his humans.  He is his humans best friend.
