Book Review: When I Pray for You by Matthew Paul Turner

Prayer has always meant a lot to my family as I was growing up and to this day.  You know the saying, “the family that prays together, stays together.” I truly believe prayer makes a difference in our lives and gives us strength through the most difficult times.  When I first found out I was pregnant, I prayed for my child daily.  Sometimes, I prayed multiple times a day for her because it was such a scary moment in my life.  I was misdiagnosed with a blighted ovum and told she wouldn’t be here, but she’s here and amazing!  Praying for her constantly and praying for my strength definitely helped me in the most trying time in my life.

Matthew Paul Turner has done it again! We love his books in our home and this one does not disappoint.  When I Pray for you is an amazing story that all parents can instantly connect with.  The words are heartfelt and will make you reminisce. I see why it’s a best seller. It gave me ALL THE FEELS!  The words made me tear up just thinking about my girls. I can already see that this is going to be a bedtime story for us! We will definitely be reading this over and over again. It’s a good read for the whole family.

Y’all. That’s how the book BEGINS! Do you see what I mean by it giving you ALL THE FEELS!?  The first page took me back to the day I met my baby girl for the very first time after all the pregnancy scares and all. BUT GOD!  This book is the truth.  It makes me feel all warm and fuzzy inside and it does the same for the girls.  They can definitely relate to the different moments that are in the book. I want them to know that we are constantly thinking of and praying for them and this book definitely helps with that.  It also helps them understand how and why prayer is so important.

The words are beautiful and easy to read and understand. Our 8-year-old will enjoy reading this book out loud to us or her baby sister. The artwork by Kimberley Barnes is beautiful as well.  It’s kind of like the illustrations jump off the page at you and gives you happy vibes.  When I pray for you is an amazing book from beginning to end and any child or parent would be happy to add this to their book shelf.
