WOW is it FEBRUARY already? Sheesh! I felt like I was just saying “Happy New Year” to everyone the other day. I am in shock that she will be ONE very soon. It feels like only yesterday when she was kicking me in the belly and moving all around in there. Time really does zoom by! I am cherishing every single moment with my baby girl for sure.
Joia turned 8 months on January 13th and she is steady growing and learning fast. She is becoming her own little person and I love it! She is very active and wants to DO EVERYTHING. She wants to touch, taste, and go. She wants to do everything we do…she is something else. She follows me around EVERYWHERE. She is an expert crawler now and I think she will be walking VERY soon. She pulls herself up a lot and even tries to stand on her own for a couple of seconds at a time.
Growth
I have no clue what her exact weight and height is as she won’t be going back to the doctor until she is 9 months. She is wearing size 3 diapers. She can still fit some 3 month old clothes depending on the brand. She is mostly in 6-9 month clothes now. She can also fit some 12 month pants depending on the brand. The Garanimals 12 month pants fit her great, but other brands are a tad bit too big for her.
Feeding
She is drinking 6-8 oz of Similac Advance/Parent Choice throughout the day. She’s still eating stage 2 foods. She usually finishes the whole container at each feeding. I try to give her more than just one thing at each feeding. For example, I may give her half of the container of carrots and half of the container of apples. She loves to try things we are eating. She eats very well. She eats 3 meals a day. She is much more interested in eating food than she is in drinking her milk. She’s getting better at picking food up on her own and putting it in her mouth. She enjoys feeding herself. She seems like she won’t be a picky eater at all. We are trying to get her to drink from a sippy cup and she is doing pretty good with it.
Sleeping
It’s hit or miss with if she wakes up once through the night or if she sleeps the entire time. She is still being spoiled because she is STILL all up in our bed…taking up ALL our space. We need a KING bed…nah, we need to just get her out of the bed huh? We are still working on it!
Teething
No teeth…ALL gums! Haha…I guess she’ll get her first tooth soon. She is definitely drooling a bunch more! She is also gnawing on her hands and all her toys & bibs like crazy!
Speech
She says “dada” and “mama” really well…she says “dada” way more than “mama”, but if she REALLY wants me…she will say it with ease. If I leave the room…she might just say it over and over. Too funny. She has also copied some things we have said…I’ve told her to say “papa” and as I said it over and over she actually said it. She has also said her cousin’s name…sort of. His name is Adam and she said “Ada” a couple of times 🙂
Playing
Joia is a super active baby. She loves to play with all kinds of toys. She really loves toys that make noise of course. She even loves to play with things that aren’t toys at all…like her bottle top. She is so curious and loves to explore. She loves to watch Daniel Tiger & Mickey Mouse Clubhouse. I think she loves Daniel Tiger the most because she loves to hear the songs. She also loves to play patty cake or for you to sing to her. Singing actually calms her down if she is upset.

My Postpartum Update
Same ol same ol. Everything is fine with me…I’m just being a slacker in the weight department. I have never been a dedicated fitness person, but I’m going to get my life together one of these days LOL I am drinking more water and eating less fast food so that’s a start!
