Baby Update: 2 Months

Joia turned 2 months on July 13.  I can’t believe she is 2 months old already!  Her little personality is certainly starting to shine bright.  She also looks totally different than she did at birth and when she was 1 month old.  At first she looked totally like her daddy to me, but now I’m starting to see both of us in her.  It’s so amazing to watch her grow.  I am so amazed to see how much she changes and learns things that sometimes I just sit and stare at her like wow…I made a human!  I am so blessed to have her in my life.  This love is like no other.  I’m so glad that the doctor was so very wrong about her.

 2 Month Appointment Update

We went to her 1 month appointment on July 22nd and she weighed 10lbs and 12 oz and she measured 22 inches long.  The doctor said that she looks great and she is growing well.  She’s doing everything that is expected of her at 2 months old.  She had to get her 2 month shots and I was nervous for her!  I hate shots myself so I knew she was going to hate them.  She can be such a diva at times by not wanting anyone to touch her and whatnot LOL so I just knew she was going to trip when she got her shots.  She didn’t do bad at all.  She cried which is expected, but she didn’t cry for long.  After about a minute or two she was smiling like nothing ever happened and was on straight chill mode.  That night she was a tad bit fussy and she was a bit fussy at daycare which is expected, but she is fine now.

I showed the doctor what I believed to be cradle cap on her head and I was correct.  She said it was very mild and didn’t look bad at all.  The day before I washed her hair and put some baby oil on her head and then a cap on her head which was recommended to me by a friend.  That seemed to do that trick in the start of making it go away.  The doctor said that was the perfect thing to do.  I also asked her about coconut oil because a lot of my subscribers on YouTube mentioned that and she said that was fine as well.  So now I put coconut oil on her hair almost every day and I brush her hair and I don’t see the cradle cap much anymore if at all now.

 We got her ears pierced on the same day she had her shots to go ahead and get it out the way instead of doing it on a separate day and going through pain again.  I didn’t know that some people felt so strongly about piercing a baby’s ears.  I’ve read various things on pregnancy forums and mommy groups.  I had baby cousins and others that I knew that always got their ears pierced when they were a baby rather than when they were older. I didn’t get my ears pierced until I was a freshman in college and I wished that my mom had gotten my ears pierced when I was a baby.  If I would have had my ears pierced as a baby…I wouldn’t remember that pain or anything like that.  Also since I waited so long to get my ears pierced…I was actually scared to get them pierced.  I remember being scared and I actually teared up a bit when I got them pierced and I was 18!  She doesn’t have to experience that which is why we got her ears pierced now and it’s easier for us to take care of them.  She’s not thinking about trying to snatch them out or anything because she isn’t even really aware that they are there.  She’s a baby so she had no clue what to expect or anything like that.  She did fine with the ear piercing.  She cried, but not long at all.  She was over it after it happened and was back to her happy self.  She doesn’t care much for me to clean her ears, but she also doesn’t like for me to clean her butt either LOL!  She’s doing just fine.

She is now wearing size 1 pampers.  She can now wear 0-3 month clothes.  She can still wear some newborn clothes as well because some newborn clothes seem to be made bigger than others.

She drinks about 4oz every 2-3 hours.  She is still on Similac Advance or the Parents Choice version of it.  We get a lot of free samples of Similac Advance at the

doctor’s office.

She wakes up once or twice throughout the night for a bottle.  She sleeps better after a bath.

I’m starting to feel like myself again somewhat.  Not all the way…but more than I was before.  When I went to my 6 week check up…I received some horrible news.  One of my stitches did not heal properly so I had to get restitched right then and there that day.  That was so traumatic for me…I couldn’t believe it LOL.  That really sucked and it took two more weeks to heal.  My labor wasn’t that bad, but all the things that are happening to me AFTER labor is worse.  It makes me not really want to go through birth again to be quite honest.  People say you forget the pain and all of that, but I don’t know if I’m that forgetful!  We might have on more child in a couple of years, but I’m not really sure.  We shall see!

As far as working out and everything…I haven’t done a thing!  I keep saying I’m going to work out with my husband, but I haven’t.  It’s kind of hard to with a newborn of course to work out together as far as going to the gym.  I think what I’m going to do for now is just do Zumba in the house on the Xbox One while he is at the gym.  Then when I start feeling a little more in shape we can take turns going to the gym.  I can stay with Joia in the house and he can go to the gym and then we switch.  Hopefully I can start Zumba this week.  I really don’t feel like doing anything at all once I get off work, but I’m going to have to push myself!  I weighed 133. 5 at the doctor’s office so that’s only 3 pounds from my pre-pregnancy weight.  What I really need to work on is my stomach because I have somewhat of a pudge that I need to get rid of.  I need to start eating healthier as well so Pinterest here I come for ideas!
