Kids love to play games and my husband and I are the biggest kids in the house so we love to play games too. The hubs and I are so excited that Jordyn is at the age now where she can join in on the fun and can actually understand how to play board games and card games for kids. We have decided to incorporate a “family game night” every week. Everyone enjoys playing new and classic games together.
Jordyn really looks forward to family game night and it makes me smile. I have made a list of our favorite games for kids so far that we have all played together as a family. We even let our younger daughter join in on the fun by helping mommy move her board piece. Some games have small pieces so adult supervision is definitely necessary if you allow younger kids to play.

Fun Games to Play at Home
If you’re looking for ways to entertain bored kids, family board games are a great way to do it! Family board games and card games for kids always bring on the fun!
Don’t Spill The Beans
This is a super simple fun game for kids, but it is still tons of fun for little ones! Baby girl loves watching her big sister play this game and gets a real thrill from the beans tipping over. The object of Don’t Spill The Beans is to put the beans on the pot’s lid without letting the pot tip over. Whoever gets rid of their beans first and does not make the beans spill wins the game. The game is for ages 3 to 6, but older kids can play and even adults can join in on the fun.
Elefun and Friends Mouse Trap
This game is also PERFECT for younger kids because it is so easy to play and the kids think it is hilarious when the mouse gets trapped. All you have to do is spin the wheel and move your mouse to that color. If someone lands on a boot on the board and someone is in the mousetrap area then the person that lands on the boot can trap the mouse by activating the mouse contraption. The mouse trapper then wins the game. Mouse Trap is a super simple game!
The box says it is for ages 4+, but I think a 2-year-old (closer to 3) could even play with adult supervision and help. We let our 1-year-old “play” by letting her just help spin the wheel so she wouldn’t feel left out. Get creative so everyone can be apart of the fun.
Uno
This card game brings back childhood memories for my hubs and I. Uno is definitely a classic that we played a lot as kids. We can play this game over and over and never get tired of it. ANYBODY can come back from having a losing hand and win the game. What makes it more fun is you NEVER know what’s going to happen.
Our pack of Uno cards actually came with 4 customizable wild cards which made the game even that much more interesting. This game is for ages 7 and up, but if you explain it well, younger kids can also play. The object of the game is to be the player with one card left (don’t forget to shout UNO!) and when you get rid of that last card first you win the game.
Operation
Another classic! Operation is a super fun and unique game for kids as you are the doctor removing various ailments from your patient. The object of the game is to be the player that collected the most objects from the patient without setting off the buzzer. This game takes skill and coordination and is for ages 6 and up.
Twister
This is a game that will get you up and moving! Players really have to use their balance and flexibility. The object of Twister is to be the last player standing! Don’t fall! This game is for ages 6 & up, but I think even a 4-year-old might be able to play this.
